The Alpha

Age: 10+ Number of players: 3-6 Players Playing Time: 45 Min Game dimension:  25 X 21 X6.5 cm Lead your wolf pack as you claim territory, search for food, and hunt prey. After a successful hunt, you may enter a conflict with another pack. If that happens, you will have to decide whether you want to risk injury by fighting to keep the food for your own pack, or risk giving up all the food found in the region by sharing with the other pack. In The Alpha, players control a wolf pack, leading wolves on a search for food. The Near Forest includes easier to catch, but lower value prey. The Far Forest has larger prey that are more difficult to attack, but if successful can result in great reward. You will lead your wolves through four stages of the hunt: STALK – Send your wolves to hunt in various regions of the forest and outnumber rival packs to become dominant in the area. CHASE – Roll the dice for the region to determine the success of the hunt. RESOLVE – Enter conflict and decide whether to fight or share food with other packs in the region. ADVANCE – Move your wolf on the food track to indicate the amount of food secured during the hunt. At the end of 5 weeks (rounds), the wolf pack with the most food will be declared The Alpha.   The Alpha is a light strategy game in which players lead wolf packs to claim territory, search for food, and hunt prey. Packs will gain food throughout the game by hunting various prey in the near and far woods as well as occasionally scavenging for leftover scraps. Packs will first need to stalk their prey by placing their wolves into the regions in which they plan to hunt. Packs will have to decide if they want to fight for their food or share it. If the packs share the food it is split evenly. If only one pack chooses to fight, they get away with all of the food. If more than one pack chooses to fight, they’ll each end up injuring one of the wolves in their pack and they’ll gain no food. A great game for board game enthusiasts, families, and those new to board gaming. Easy to learn and teach, be playing in just a few short minutes. The Alpha features original art, painted by a park ranger who painted the animals to be authentic in every way. The Alpha has a blend of strategy and chance, and is highly replayable.

Who can get their teammates to say Pinball without being able to say Arcade, Game, Flippers, Tilt, or Roll? Not so easy now, is it? When playing the Taboo game, the obvious clues are strictly forbidden. Players race against the timer as they try to give creative and carefully-worded clues to get team players to guess words fast. But don’t mention unmentionables, or it’s time for the squeaker which means losing the point. Players can also play using the Game-changer die to mix things up. If it lands on One Guesser, only one teammate can guess on their turn. With 4 other possibilities on the die, players better be shrewd, quick-thinking, and willing to take some risks — but don’t get shut down by the squeaker! Taboo is a party word game. Players take turns describing a word or phrase on a drawn card to their partner without using five common additional words or phrases also on the card. The opposing partners watch a timer and use a buzzer to stop the game, buzz the player describing if one of the five off-limits words or phrases is used, or if the describing player makes any gestures. The describing team gets a point for each card they guess successfully and the opposing team gets a point for each card they pass on, make gestures on, or lose for saying one of the off-limits words or phrases. An excellent party game!

Stella Dixit Universe

Age: 8+ Number of players: 3-6 Players Playing Time: 30 Min Game dimension: 27.5 x 27.5 x 5.5 cm Starseekers! Explore the sky and bring some light back to your world. Stella is a competitive game in the Dixit universe. In each round, players interpret Dixit cards on a board after receiving a common clue word. Each player observes the Dixit cards and secretly associates these cards with the clue word, marking on their erasable personal slates the cards that they choose. Selecting the same cards as the other players allows you to score more points. Conversely, selecting a card that no one else chooses may cost you dearly. At the end of the fourth round, each player calculates their total score. Whoever has the most points — which is possibly more than one person — wins. Take calculated risks, but beware of the fall.

Sleeping Queens

The Pancake Queen, the Ladybug Queen, and ten of their closest friends have fallen under a sleeping spell and it’s your job to wake them up. In Sleeping Queens, players need to use strategy, quick thinking, and a little luck to rouse these napping nobles from their royal slumbers. The twelve queen cards lie face-down on the table. On a turn, you take one action from the cards in your hand: play a king to awaken and claim a sleeping queen, play a knight to steal someone else’s queen (unless she has a dragon for protection), play a potion to send a queen to sleep once again (unless she has a wand for protection), use a jester to try out your luck with the top of the deck, or discard one or more number cards to draw more cards. Each queen card has a point value on it, and whenever all the required queens have been awakened or one player hits the point threshold, the game ends and whoever has the most points wins. The sucess of the campaign raised the popularity of the game, and Ping Guo Qi or Apple Chess has since become an alternative name for Hei Bai Qi (Black and White Chess), the more traditional name for the game.

It’s the neighbor from the left of playing. In turn, he tries to find the treasure you need. 3. The desired treasure appears: The player then grabs the card returned and places it in front of him, with a hidden face. Its turn is over. It’s the left neighbor to play. He flips the next card and goes out looking for that new treasure. Special actions As soon as players have reached the cards carrying a “2” on the back, special actions come into play. Ogre Under

The only bridge into town is infested with hungry ogres living beneath it, and with the right temptation, they can be lured out to make a meal of unlucky players or their faithful donkeys. Only when a merchant and their Donkey reach the end tile will they claim victory! In Ogre under, players take on the role of merchants trying to cross the bridge into town on market day. They simultaneously select and reveal action cards to bet on the changing market, lure out ogres to slow down the competition, or hire Mouse guards to bravely protect them. With smart play and clever decisions, they’ll make it to market before becoming a meal! In Ogre Under, each player controls a merchant and a donkey who are transporting goods across an ogre-infested bridge, headed for the market in the city. In each round, players select an action card from their hand and then simultaneously reveal them. Action cards allow players to perform one of the following actions: Flip over one of the eight bridge cards, potentially revealing an ogre that scares any merchants and donkeys on that card backwards a number of spaces. Protect their merchant from a possible ogre attack. Move their donkey forward, up to their merchant’s current location. Bet on whether the next market price card to be revealed will be higher or lower than the current one. Correct bets move your merchant forward a number of spaces (based on how risky the bet was), while incorrect bets move your merchant back to your donkey’s current location. Play continues round after round until one or more players win by having both their merchant and their donkey in the city market at the end of a round.

Marrakech

Age: 8+ Number of players: 2-4 Players Playing Time:  30 Min Game dimension: 27.5 x 27.5 x 5.5 cm In Marrakech each player takes the role of a rug salesperson who tries to outwit the competition. Each player starts with an equal amount of money and an equal number of carpets. On your turn, you may rotate Assam 90 degrees. Then roll the die and move him forward as many spaces as showing (d6: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4). If Assam reaches the edge of the board, follow the curve and continue moving in the next row. If Assam lands on another player’s carpet, you must pay that player 1 coin per square of the contiguous carpet area in that color. Then, you place one of your carpets orthogonally adjacent to Assam (but may not directly overlay another carpet). The game ends when all players have played all carpets. Each gets 1 coin per visible square of carpet. The player with most coins wins! Tie breaker: most carpet area visible.

You must prove your worth and gain her trust by enlisting allies, friends, and family of the Princess to carry a letter of intent to her. Can you earn the Princess’ trust and become her confidant? Playing cards one at a time, players in Love Letter use the abilities of these key people in the Princess’ life to outwit their opponents and successfully deliver their letter and gain her favor. Players must utilize each character’s special skill to avoid being caught and successfully deliver their letter to the Princess. Once a set number of favor tokens are acquired, that player wins and becomes the Princess’ confidant.
